Harvey Spears is a photographer from New York and Maine. Before turning his creative pursuits entirely to photography, he had a career as an advertising art director.
His photographic work has appeared in various newspapers, journals and photographic exhibitions throughout New York State and Maine, including the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. He is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in NYC and continues his formal study of art and life at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation in SoHo, NY.
"My work is very much inspired by this important principle that I learned from my study of Aesthetic Realism, the education founded by Eli Siegel: The world, art, and self explain each other: each is the aesthetic oneness of opposites."
"I love photographing landscapes and wildlife because of the deep excitement and awe in meeting a world with such variety and richness. I hope to encourage a respect and wonder, through my photographs, for the environment we share with all living beings. It is imperative that we learn how to act responsibly in order to have the world we live in be the best it can."
