Stephen is Bachelor of Applied Science (Fisheries with Hons) graduate from the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania, Australia. Stephen has just completed research on the influence of rainfall on estuarine and coastal ocean plankton production. Stephen's interest in the marine and coastal environment stems from his keen interest in fishing and boating. "I'm very interested in knowing and understanding the complex and dynamic nature of the marine environment and would like to see all marine resources used in an economically, ecologically, socially and culturally sustainable fashion". In 2008 Stephen joins the team at the Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute (TAFI) where he takes up a PhD scholarship in the Estuarine Ecology group at the TAFI marine laboratories in Hobart. "I look forward to researching estuarine productivity and functioning so I can use my knowledge to contribute in some way to the sustainable use of the world's marine resources".
