Dr. Heather Leslie,
I currently am a research staff member in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University. My research interests include marine population and community ecology, reserve design, and the role of science in marine conservation, management and policy decision-making processes. At Princeton, I am developing conceptual and quantitative models to assess resilience of coupled social-ecological systems in coastal marine areas. Many of my photos come from Oregon, where I received my Ph.D. in 2004 from Oregon State University. At OSU, my research focused on the development and evaluation of scientific tools for marine conservation decision-making, particularly the siting of marine reserves. I grew up on the ocean in Plymouth, Massachusetts, received an A.B. in Biology from Harvard University in 1996 and have worked on marine science and policy issues in the U.S., Mexico, and New Zealand.
