Find the Blue in You

Whether you are a farmer in Minnesota or a fisherman in Papua New Guinea, you depend on the ocean every day. Plant life in the ocean produces 70 percent of the free oxygen in our atmosphere so each one of us breathes the ocean with every step we take. Some communities interact with the ocean on a much more personal level every day, with many relying on it for food and livelihood.

See Smithsonian Institution's new Ocean Portal and SeaWeb's ways you can Get Involved to find the blue in you, or how we all depend on what the ocean offers and the importance of protecting it for future generations.
