Steven recently left the federal government after serving as an environmental attorney for nearly 16 years. He worked for the U.S. EPA's Region 5 Chicago office on hazardous waste/Superfund cleanups from 1989 - 1995, the Department of the Interior Pacific Northwest Solicitor's office enforcing the federal Endangered Species Act from 1995-2001, and as an advisor to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service divisions of law enforcement, ecological services, and refuges from 2001-2005. He is now working towards a certificate to teach social studies at the high school and middle school levels. He seeks to work with science teachers and others to nurture a student love for learning about the environment and marveling at its wonders, and hopes to inspire students to choose to act to protect the environment they share with so many other species.
